10 things you didn’t know about me! | part one

So you’ve found a photographer whose work you like, but you wonder to yourself…what are they like? What are their loves and inspirations? Will we “click” together? Obviously the best way to tell is to meet them in person, which I like to do with all my clients. This is why I offer a complimentary consultation before you book anything. But I thought I would give you a little insight into who I am before we meet. So here’s 10 things you may not know about me….

1/ I am a pillow junkie! I love all the amazing textures and patterns you can get. I love how easily they can transform a room. These are some that I love right now from Etsy.

2/ I hate washing my hair. I am blessed (or cursed) with lots of hair that takes forever to dry!!! I hate it so much that I actually only wash it once or twice a week. I know, I can hear you gasping! I just discovered this dry shampoo through another blog Pretty Pinteresting and it has become my saviour! You can buy it at winners, and they smell AMAZING.

3/ Although I moved to Canada from England, I was actually born in Cape Town, South Africa. I left there when I was 2, however my earliest memory is of a house we had there, and I would’ve only been 1 1/2 when we lived in it. I know it’s not the safest place to visit, however I think I would still like to go back there.

4/ I went to Art College for a year when I was 17, studied all kinds of art, but it was there that I discovered photography. My uncle gave me my first camera and I was hooked. Back in those days it was still all film, so we had to learn about exposures, lighting and darkroom techniques, otherwise it got very costly! It’s so easy now to pick up a digital camera and call yourself a photographer without really learning about the fundamentals of photography, that I feel you only truly learn through using film. I also loved to sketch, although I haven’t done it in a VERY long time. Charcoal and watercolour were my favourite materials to use. I then went on to get a bachelors degree in Graphic Design, although I still used photography in most of my projects.

5/ Even though I’m from England, I only drink regular orange pekoe tea, with two sugars, lots of milk, and out of a mug! How very un-British of me. I hate Earl Grey, in fact I don’t think many British people actually like Earl Grey tea. Oh, and I also like staining flowers with it!
