TIPS FOR A ROOM, SPRING REFRESH

It’s still gloomy here in Canada. I love the coziness that my winter decor brings, with it’s rich, darker colour tones, that invite you to curl up with a scented candle glowing & a frothy hot chocolate warming your hand. However I am so ready for Spring with all its colour and beautiful blossom, so I wanted to create a bright and airy space in the hopes it would encourage Spring to arrive!

The second change was the pillow covers and throw blankets. For the pillows I used lighter fabrics such as linen and cotton, in neutral, muted colours and patterns. This helps give the room that light and bright feel. I paired them with a lightweight throw blanket in cream and soft grey blue. I like to keep my textile colours in the same tonal range, but not necessarily the same exact colour. Using different colours and patterns in the same tone helps give the room depth and interest.

I swapped out my darker coloured coffee table books for ones with lighter covers, added glass candlesticks with white candles, and spring flowers to vintage vessels to create a muted arrangement on my coffee table. I actually used faux florals as real spring flowers were limited at the time. I love using faux flowers as they are oren cost effective and can be used for years. Michaels, Dollorama, Amazon and Ikea have some great, well priced faux options.
